About Us

Our History

Calvary Independent Baptist Church was founded in 1995 by a small group of Christians who began by meeting in a home in West Redding, following the New Testament model for a local, gospel-preaching church. Never in the history of the town of Redding had a Bible-preaching Baptist church been started, and over the first few months the Lord worked in marvelous ways to help the church in finding a meeting place and a permanent pastor.

More than ten years later, CIBC still stands for its uncompromising belief in the sole authority of the Bible. Pastor Ken Brooks presents clear and convicting messages from God’s Word Sunday mornings and evenings with a shorter Bible study and prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings.

Our People

You’ll be hard pressed to find a friendlier group of people than those that will greet you in our church. We’re a small, diverse group of around 50. We are a predominantly young congregation with lots of families, a large group of singles, a few married couples, and a couple cherished senior saints. We have people from Asia, South America, India, and all over the United States.

Our Music

God has blessed our small congregation with some incredible music talent. We have a small, but powerful choir, several pianists, and a fledgling “orchestra”? of two violins and cellos, a clarinet, and a flute, and a couple of trumpets which you can hear playing along with the congregation on Sunday mornings. We try to have a variety of God-honoring music in our services, from traditional sacred to contemporary worship to gospel. You won’t find any drum sets, electric guitars, or worship leaders at our church, but you will find quality music that will lift your spirit and honor the Lord.

SCHEDULE CHANGE:
